Last year a few of my closest and awesomest friends joined color guard. To me, it seemed interesting, but I didn’t think I had the time and this year was my first year in high school so I wanted to get everything situated. Well, turns out, they were really fricking good! I went to almost every football game and watched them during half-time. Boy, was it awesome. But I never really thought I would be able to do that stuff, you must have some special skill or something, but somehow they convinced me to join after FOREVER. I have considered it throughout the year, and they told me really cool stories about their competitions. Some of my friends even made NEW friends! I felt like I was missing out. Sure, I was happy for them, but it just made me feel so boring. Well hopefully that all is going to change pretty soon. Tryouts are coming up and since my friends joined and performed this year, they can help me master the skills and whatnot. I am really excited…I cant wait honestly. I had some second-guesses about doing this, but ya know…life sucks when you have nothing to do…and I had a sort of “existential crisis” the other day and decided to make my life better. No more complaining, feeling sorry for myself, and no more laziness. I feel like this is going to be a whole new chapter for me maybe, and it couldn’t take any longer. Hopefully I will also be able to get rid of this stage fright too, and make some new friends! Another pro to joining (for me) is that
- a LOT of my friends are in color guard
- a LOT of my friends are in band
- The football games are pretty cool
- AND all the color guard and band kids can hang out, so I am going into this already knowing a lot of people!
I’m SO SO SO SO proud of you!!! Love you like a sister β€ -Em
